Trainings and Achievements of Dr. Loren Borud

Dr. Loren Borud is a native of Minot, North Dakota who has a double major in Physics and in Human Biology from Stanford University where he earned his Phi Beta Kappa Honors. He then studied at the Harvard Medical School, then he entered his 5-year residency in general surgery at UCLA. He worked at various hospitals including the UCLA Medical Center, the West Los Angeles VA Hospital, Olive View Medical Center, and the Martin Luther King Drew Medical Center. While at UCLA, he was able to perform 2 additional years of research in the Division of Plastic Surgery. He then trained for three more clinical years in plastic surgery and in hand microsurgery at the New York Institute of Reconstructive Surgery where he worked at Tisch Hospital, Bellevue Hospital and Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York City.

Dr. Loren Borud earned his board certification from the American Board of Surgery, and was a member of various associations including the American Society for Plastic Surgeons, the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, the Northeastern Society of Plastic Surgeons, and the New England Society of Plastic Surgeons.

Dr. Loren Borud is well known in body contouring surgery after weight loss. He has authored 30 scientific publications, 8 book chapters, and was sought as a lecturer at National Plastic Surgery meetings as well as in international forums in Asia, the Middle East, Europe and South America. He was the editor in chief of the Atlas of Body Contouring after Massive Weight Loss, which was published by CineMed in 2009. Recently, he published his first book, Plastikonomiks.
